El Favorito de Palermo was one of the highlights of our time in Buenos Aires. From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. The service was simply impeccable—attentive, polished, and incredibly detail-oriented, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the entire meal. The food was outstanding from start to finish. We began with the Morcilla con Huevo de Campo, and the restaurant surprised us with complimentary fainá, which paired perfectly with the dish. Every bite was packed with flavor. For our mains, we ordered the Milanesa de Bife de Chorizo and a perfectly cooked steak served with a beet salad and smashed potatoes. Both dishes were exceptional, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and the care put into every plate. There wasn’t a single miss during the entire meal. If you’re visiting Palermo and looking for an authentic Argentine dining experience with incredible food and first-class service, El Favorito de Palermo is a restaurant I would recommend without hesitation. It’s a place I’ll gladly return to. If you’d like, I can also  make it sound a bit more like a Google review—more personal and conversational while keeping it concise.
We wanted to go to Don Julio but did not have a reservation and could not get in. They suggested this location as it’s operated by them as well. We had the striploin steak. Quality of the steak was great. Perfectly done and soft like butter to cut. We also had the arugula salad, buffalo mozzarella which has pesto not made from basil which was so delicious. To end we had the flan. Now it is not made for many gluten free options. But they did have gluten free bread that they served with the olive oil and olives to start. We did not have a reservation here either. But said we would wait and it was an hour wait around 1pm. We were offered a spot at the bar and we loved being in the centre of the action at the restaurant. Staff are all amazing.
The food was delicious. No complaints. The milanesa lives up to its reputation. Rocket salad was good. Garlic shrimp was decent but I think it could’ve had a stronger flavor. We were given the chickpea bread on the house, which was nice. Even the bread and olive oil were really good. Service was spotty but okay. They cleared the olive oil dish even when we had bread left. I was going to order two dishes (milanesa and trout) and the waiter warned me they were both big dishes and recommended I only get one, which I appreciated. Even though the food is good it felt pricey. If I come back, I would just get the milanesa with a salad and skip the shrimp and the fries.
We ate here twice on our honeymoon - first time was EXCEPTIONAL! Food was insane, and service was truly phenomenal. Second time we ordered some of the same plates and they were sadly not the same. Food was overall okay. Service was distant and rushed. Two very different experiences, first time was beyond five stars and second time a solid 3.
A sibling to Don Julio, I found this to be the better restaurant. The milanesa was very moist, with the steak's marbling excellently rendered. The lemon is useful for half the steak, so that you can get bites with and without acidity, increasing the fullness and breadth of the dish. From the sides the za'atar salad was tangy and herby, maybe too tangy for the milanesa but as a result very good with another non-acidic dish. The fries were exceptionally fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. I would say the three dishes each stand up in their own right, and I would pick them separately. The quality makes me have faith that the other dishes are also excellent. Great establishment and in my opinion better than Don Julio.
