After seeing Don Julio recommended online, we decided to make a reservation for 1:30 PM and paid the required deposit. On the morning of our reservation, the restaurant called and suggested arriving at 12:30 PM if we wanted to guarantee an indoor table. We appreciated the heads-up and arrived early, and we were seated quickly. The food was absolutely spectacular. Service between courses was a bit slow, but every dish was worth the wait. We were welcomed with a complimentary appetizer featuring pesto and broccoli, which was delicious. We then ordered the provoleta cheese, perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. For the main course, we had the asado de tira and ojo de bife, both cooked perfectly and served in generous portions. To finish, we shared the crepes and flan, both with dulce de leche. They were rich and delicious without being overly sweet. An unforgettable dining experience and absolutely worth the visit.
We celebrated a birthday at Don Julio with reservations booked weeks in advance. While waiting briefly for our first-seating table, we were treated to complimentary Prosecco and mini empanadas. We were seated outdoors, as indoor tables seem to be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. A quick warning for outdoor diners: keep your belongings off the table! We witnessed scammers selling socks trying to place their merchandise over cell phones to steal them. The staff and a stationed police officer do their best to deter them, and I never actually felt unsafe, but sitting indoors definitely offers a more relaxed experience. The food absolutely lives up to the hype. We shared a fantastic, perfectly cooked ribeye that easily competes with top-tier steaks I've had across US, Japan, Korea and Australia. The grilled cheese, house-grown grilled peppers, and accompanying sauces were all exceptional. Even if you dine outside, be sure to step inside to see the impressive open kitchen and the magnificent downstairs wine cellar. What truly sets Don Julio apart is the world-class service. The staff is incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond by comping an appetizer and bringing us a dessert for the occasion. The food is phenomenal, but the unforgettable hospitality is exactly why I will always return whenever I am in Buenos Aires.
Fantastic service and atmosphere, I really like eating this outside with staff that was very attentive to us. Then, for the food, I thought that it was steak-heavy as expected. Great. The asados are all cooked correctly, which is great. But their style really means you should get the skirt steak. The other steaks have too much chewiness for their grill style I think, although to be clear they are still really good. Just not that amazing steak that is at Keen's, at Benjamin Prime, or what I had at Fogon in Mendoza. So really really good steakhouse. But to its lofty expectations, not great. Not going to lie, my review may be tainted by my accidentally ordering a rump steak instead of a skirt steak, then us getting a half portion of skirt steak without realizing we were paying for it. So y'know, maybe it's just us, but that rump steak also could've had more treatment, like a salt drying?
Fantastic Argentine Steakhouse. The steaks are nicely aged and grilled. Steaks not served with sauce or lathered in butter so you can enjoy the flavour of the meat. Had the arugula salad that was very well prepared. Attentive service and prices were very reasonable for a Michelin star restaurant. Definitely need to make a reservation.
Amazing lunch experience! The food was outstanding—especially the meats, everything was cooked perfectly. The sides were also fantastic, and the overall atmosphere was excellent. One of the highlights was when the staff showed me the wine cellar—it was very impressive and made the whole experience feel even more special. Great service, amazing food, and a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!
