I rode my motorcycle over 11,000 kilometers across South America and decided to celebrate with a special meal in Ushuaia. Unfortunately, it ended in disappointment and regret. I started with the crab soup. While the flavor was decent, it was watery and had very little actual crab — maybe a couple of small pieces. For a $25 USD soup, I expected something far more substantial and memorable. I’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants all over the world and I can honestly say I’ve never spent $25 on a soup entrée and I was expecting a five star experience. For my main course, I ordered salmon — assuming that in a place known for fresh seafood, this would be a great choice. I specifically asked for it grilled with butter and garlic. Instead, I was served a completely different dish covered in a red sauce that was so spicy it was inedible. I sent it back. The replacement salmon was no better — overcooked and lacking the fresh flavor I expected. It was served with vegetables, and when I asked for alternatives like rice or a salad, I was told my only options were vegetables or potatoes. In the end, I spent over $72 USD and walked away feeling completely disappointed, and if I’m completely honest…. Totally ripped off! Just days earlier in Punta Arenas, Chile I had a massive, perfectly cooked, fresh salmon meal with mashed potatoes and salad for $15 USD — a meal that far exceeded this one in quality, portion, and value. Bottom line: this restaurant charges premium prices but does not deliver a premium experience. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Great and authentic restaurant. Nice service. Fresh seafood and meat. The king crab parmesan and the seafood ceviche were delicious. Malbec wine. This restaurant was recommended by local people.
A truly fantastic culinary experience at this beautiful and quaint restaurant in the heart of Ushuaia. I had a beef carpaccio as an appetizer and a delicious grab stew for the main course. I would have also liked a fresh day centolla, but unfortunately it wasn't available. The price was honest and the staff were very friendly. If I return to Ushuaia in the future, I will definitely return!
I came to Ushuaia on a cruise trip and staying for only one day. So glad I found this place! Thanks to the lady who recommended Volver at a coffee shop this morning! Walked in alone and wanted to try their dried aged steak. Juan was kind and patient enough to explain the portion and price to me despite my poor Spanish. Ended up ordering their hamburger and a king crab starter dish. The food was just incredible. The burger’s construction was flawless, paired with Piattelli Salta made it deserve several chef’s kisses! Always trust a waiter who can pair wine well! Now I really want to try more of their menu. So very sad I don’t get another day or two in town. But, hey who knows? I might travel around the globe just to visit this restaurant again!
We had a nice experience here. We had the crab soup and the sea bass and both were tasty. The salad we chose was delicious and the location is very quaint and comfortable. We arrived a few minutes before they opened at 7 pm and we're given a nice table by the window. I would come back again.
