Kalma Resto
Argentina
Reviews
I ate at this restaurant over a year ago and still think about our meal. The food was superb, locally sourced - some ingredients foraged, and beautifully presented. We had the Spirit of Tierra del Fuego full tasting menu. Every course was delicious, and my favorite was the snack tray. The visual presentation so perfectly complimented the flavors. We'd spent the day hiking along the Beagle Channel and through the beech forest of Tierra del Fuego. It was our day on a plate! This was a fine dining experience that embodies the essence of Tierra del Fuego.
The restaurant was right next to our guesthouse, so we decided to give it a try. I can now say that it was by far the best restaurant we visited during our time in Ushuaia. The food and the accompanying wine were perfectly paired. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very chic, yet pleasantly relaxed. I highly recommend it for fine dining in Ushuaia.
At Kalma, it’s a journey: truly sensational. It feels like being transported into a forest, surrounded by colors, aromas, and local flavors, as if the chef had a secret woodland of his own from which he draws incredible creations for his dishes. In the dining room, the service represents the height of professionalism, and the explanation of each dish is flawless. Music and lighting make the experience even more memorable. For those who want a high-end, unforgettable memory of Ushuaia!
This restaurant is definitely one of the better ones we’ve encountered on our trip through Argentina. Very relaxed and modern setting. The staff speaks good English and their selection of different wines is exquisite. It’s definitely a bit more expensive than most restaurants in the area, but it’s worth it.
What a truly special place. Great, welcoming staff. Incredible cocktails made from housemade gin, house-infused with local botanicals. Had a great negroni and a marvelous G&T plus got to try the house-made vermouth. Also enjoyed an amuse bouche of lamb on Beagle Channel seaweed plus spider crab tartlets. Frambuesa squares with calendula petals finished things off. Amazing staff who seem so happy to be there. The place really lives up to its name. Kalma. Hope to go back one day and try the prix fixe
