Description
Explore an undiscovered area: the Yungas Corridor, a transition zone between the Amazon rainforest and the Andes Cordillera. This is one of Argentina's last remaining primary forests, classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by Unesco. It is characterized by a rich biodiversity: toucans, parrots, pavo del monte, peccaries, tapirs, pumas, etc. live in this preserved environment, far from any human activity. The Condor waterfall takes its name from the presence of condor nests along the trail. With a little discretion and a bit of luck, you'll catch a glimpse of one of these immense birds flying overhead. This hike is of a medium/difficult level: you'll have to walk through water and jump from rock to rock. You drive to the starting point of this activity, La Finca La Fé, in your own vehicle. It is located 1h15 from Jujuy Capital or 1h45 from Salta Capital. If you don't have your own vehicle, a driver can pick you up (optional extra). 9 a.m. - meet at Finca La Fé, have a morning snack and we'll explain the day's activity and safety instructions. 9:30 am - departure for the waterfall trek in your own vehicle, accompanied by a local guide and translator (speaking French or English). You'll take a road slaloming through the mountains with superb panoramic views of the Yungas. You can stop to see a prehistoric relic on the side of the road, called Abra de Los Morteros. 10.15 am - arrival at the starting point of the Condor Waterfall trek. You'll walk for about an hour through the forest before reaching the rio. 12pm - Enjoy a delicious Argentine picada on the banks of the rio. On the menu: empanadas, bondiola ham, escabeche, criollo cheese, wood-oven bread and homemade cakes. All accompanied by local wine. For 4 hours, you'll walk through the rio, in the middle of a canyon with gigantic cliffs. At the top of these cliffs, condor nests are perched. The guide will teach you about the habits of this impressive bird. In the middle of the wilderness, you'll have the feeling of being alone in the world and the first to explore the rio. 5 p.m. - Return to your vehicle, and end of the activity. You can drive back to your destination in your own vehicle, or a driver can take you to the point of your choice, in Salta Capital or Jujuy Capital (optional extra). Alternatively, you can extend the experience by spending the night in one of the comfortable lodges at Finca La Fé, in the middle of the Yungas jungle. When you return from your expedition, enjoy a sensational 'thermal waters' bath in your private ecological Jacuzzi, and savor a delicious Argentinean asado under the stars. This experience is optional, subject to accommodation availability.Includes
