This was the worst steak meal of my life. No hyperbole. I read a few reviews before ordering that mentioned the low quality of the beef. Still, I thought I’d give it a try. Big mistake. The first picanha I ordered rare was served well-done. That happens sometimes, but the meat was still tender. I sent the meal back to the kitchen to be remade. No problem. The second dish that came out was completely different — definitely not picanha. The beef was blue rare, but it tasted off and was the toughest meat I have ever tried to chew. Cutting it with a sharp knife was difficult. I am not exaggerating when I say my jaw still hurts after attempting to eat five bites. The waiter did his best to convince me the cut of beef was the same, but the photos tell a different story. Picanha typically has a distinct strip of fat along one side, which was clearly not present on the second dish. The chef likely served the cheapest cut available, hoping the customer wouldn’t notice. It was very noticeable. To the server’s credit, he was kind and accommodating where possible. This seems to be an issue with the kitchen, and perhaps management. Do not go here.
Food was okay, steak was cooked great (we requested medium rare and that is what we got), salad and chips were below average though. I did also like the complimentary bread and coffee which were a lovely surprise. It is overpriced though. Our server Nicolas, was exceptional. Went above & beyond and just a lovely human all-round. Recommended the Mendoza Malbec and it paired sooooo well with the eye fillet lomo, it was also a generous pour!! ❤️ 🍷 Ambience was great as the superclasico was on and there were great seats with clear viewing. Thanks Nicolas for amplifying our experience here!! 😊
I’ve been coming to Clarke’s for many years while in town. The feature their classic Argentine parrilla but have added so many great options for everyone to enjoy. I had the Sorrentinos de Calabaza and was excellent. Ronaldo who is the host is as good as it gets! He is a great guy, super welcoming and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. Don’t forget to order the provoleta as an appetizer!!
