Description
Get ready for an unforgettable maritime experience sailing the waters of the legendary Beagle Channel. Our adventure begins at Ushuaia's picturesque tourist pier, where we will board a comfortable catamaran ready to set sail. As we sail away from shore, the majestic Ushuaia Bay unfolds before our eyes, offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains.
Our crossing takes us through Paso Chico, the entrance to the Beagle Channel, a maritime strait steeped in history and natural beauty. Once in the channel, we head towards our first destination: Bird Island. This wildlife sanctuary is home to a variety of Fuegian birdlife. From the deck of the catamaran, you will be able to observe Skuas, Black-browed Albatrosses, Steamer Ducks, Geese, Kelp Gulls and Grey Gulls up close as they fly and perch on the rocks.
We continue our navigation to Isla de los Lobos, where we will encounter a lively colony of one- and two-furred sea lions. These marine mammals will delight you with their games and vocalizations as they relax on the rocks. Both islands are part of the Bridges Archipelago, a group of islands that harbor a rich biodiversity.
Our next point of interest is the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, known as 'The Illuminators'. This lighthouse, located on a small rocky islet, is a symbol of Ushuaia and a reference point for sailors. Here, you can admire the colonies of Imperial Cormorants and Rock Cormorants that nest on the rocks. In addition, you will be immersed in the history of the tragic sinking of the SS Monte Cervantes, an ocean liner that sank in these waters in 1930.
The adventure continues with a landing at Port Karelo, an island in the Bridges Archipelago. Here, we will take a 20-minute guided walk to explore authentic Yámana shell middens, ancient indigenous settlements that left their mark on the region. From a vantage point, you will be able to capture spectacular photographs of the surrounding landscape.
As we return to Ushuaia, you will have the opportunity to admire the breathtaking views of the mountain range that surrounds the city and the lush nature that embraces it. This tour, full of historical and scenic value, will allow you to discover fascinating places not to be missed.
