Description
Embark on a full-day trekking adventure to Vinciguerra Glacier, passing through wetlands, Andean Patagonian forests, and mountainous terrain. The hike reveals the glacier’s ongoing retreat caused by climate change.
Your journey starts in the Andorra Valley, crossing peat bogs and rivers in internationally protected RAMSAR wetlands. As you enter native forests, the trail alternates between steep and flat sections, with conditions varying from muddy to snowy depending on the weather. Along the way, learn about the history of former loggers who worked in the area.
After approximately 2.5 hours of climbing, the trail emerges from the forest, leading to a steep slope that reaches Laguna de los Témpanos. Surrounded by snowy peaks and the glacier, you’ll have a gourmet lunch with panoramic mountain views before returning to the start.
This moderate trek covers 14 km over 8 hours with an elevation gain of 650 meters. Maintaining a steady pace is important to complete the route. The activity demands physical endurance and offers an immersive nature experience focused on a glacier nearing extinction.
