USHUAIA: ALMANZA, THE SPIDER CRAB ROUTE & PENGUIN SIGHTING
Patagonia, Argentina, Argentina
Visit the adorable penguins up close. Enjoy the freshest and most authentic marine gastronomy of Tierra del Fuego in Puerto Almanza, one of the southernmost fishing villages in the world.
Experience penguin watching and seafood tasting in Puerto Almanza near Ushuaia, ideal for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.
Depart from Ushuaia along National Route No. 3, crossing Tierra del Fuego's valleys surrounded by mountains, peatlands, and winter centers. Enjoy a panoramic stop for photographs of the unique landscape.
Continue via Provincial Route J through ancient forests toward the Beagle Channel coast. Observe panoramas combining sea, Andes, and forest, including marine production such as mussel farming and spider crab traps, known locally as 'red gold.'
Travel along the coastal road called 'La Ruta de la Centolla' to reach the town of Puerto Almanza. Walk along its sole street to the fishermen’s wharf, then board a Zodiac for a 1.5-hour sailing through a channel branch to a nearby island inhabited by Magellanic and Gentoo penguins in their natural environment.
The tour concludes with lunch at a local fisherman’s restaurant featuring fresh seafood, providing time to share experiences before returning to Ushuaia.
