Description

Begin your journey by heading south along the iconic National Route 3. On the way, enjoy a visit to a life-sized replica of the Patagotitan Mayorum, the largest dinosaur ever discovered, right here in Patagonia. Keep your camera ready as the steppe is alive. As we traverse the vast plains, we often spot the 'Big Five' of the Patagonian scrub on gravel road: elegant guanacos, fleet-footed choiques (rheas), curious maras (cavies), gray foxes, and grazing sheep. Arrive at Punta Tombo, home to one of the world’s most significant Magellanic penguin colonies. Walk a 3-kilometer trail that winds directly through their nesting grounds. Watch as thousands of penguins socialize, tend to their burrows, and waddle toward the Atlantic. From the coastal viewpoints, look up to see skuas, giant petrels, and oystercatchers patrolling the skies and shores. Finally, transition from nature to culture as you enter Gaiman. This picturesque Welsh colony feels like a piece of the United Kingdom dropped into the heart of South America. After a guided city tour through its historic streets, have free time to explore or participate in a legendary local tradition: Welsh Tea. Indulge in an array of artisanal cakes and the famous 'torta negra' before heading back to Puerto Madryn.
