Description
We begin this unforgettable journey with a scenic drive through the Valley of Lerma, heading towards the village of El Carril. The route continues through the charming town of Chicoana and into the Quebrada de Escoipe. Along the way, we pass through the quiet mountain villages of La Merced and El Carril, offering a glimpse into rural Andean life and stunning views of the Escoipe Gorge.
Our ascent continues along the famous Cuesta del Obispo, a spectacular mountain road. From here, you’ll be able to admire the Enchanted Valley, dotted with small traditional homes and fields of corn and fruit trees. We reach the highest point of the route at Piedra del Molino, located at 3,384 meters above sea level.
The adventure continues as we cross Los Cardones National Park, known for its vast plains covered in towering cacti and the straight road known as the Recta de Tin-Tin, once part of the ancient Inca Trail. Upon arrival in the picturesque town of Cachi, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the Nevado de Cachi and the Payogasta Hills.
In Cachi, there's time to explore the town’s charming colonial architecture and visit the Museum of Archaeology (entrance not included), which houses important artifacts from the region’s pre-Columbian cultures.
After the visit, we return to Salta following the same scenic route, arriving at your hotel around 6:00 pm.
