Description

This tour departs from El Calafate, the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park, and can be booked with or without hotel transfers. The itinerary combines boating and hiking to offer multiple perspectives of the glacier.

If you select the transfer option, you will be picked up from your accommodation and taken to Muelle Bajo las Sombras, located 7 km from the glacier walkways. Without transfer, you must arrive at the port 30 minutes before departure.

From Puerto Bajo las Sombras, board a boat for a 20-minute crossing of the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino. The boat ride provides views of the surrounding landscapes before reaching the opposite shore.

The guided hike lasts approximately 1.5 hours, following natural trails through a Patagonian forest and along the lakeshore. The trail ends near the southern wall of Perito Moreno Glacier, where you can closely observe the glacier’s textures, colors, and sounds. Expert guides explain the glacier’s history, formation, and dynamics.

After the hike, return to the boat for a cruise in front of the glacier. This allows you to see details of the ice wall only visible from the water.

If you booked the transfer, the vehicle then takes you to the glacier walkways. Here, you have around two hours of free time to explore the structures, offering panoramic views of Perito Moreno Glacier from various angles and heights.

Note that the Los Glaciares National Park entrance fee is not included and must be paid at the park. Food and beverages are also not included, so bring packed lunch, snacks, and water.
