Buenos Aires, Recoleta: Argentine Asado Class with the Tricks of the Asador

Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

Come to my terrace to learn how to make a real Argentinian asado. We'll light the fire, prepare the meat, cook together, and enjoy it all with wine, appetizers, and some great grilling tips.

Highlights

  • Light the fire and handle the embers with your own hands
  • Learn about cuts, seasoning, and doneness like an Argentine grill master
  • Share picada, homemade sauces and Argentine wine at the table
  • Cook on a local host's private terrace, not in a restaurant

Description

I invite you to my terrace to share something very Argentinian: a good asado. The idea is that you not only come to eat, but also learn how it's really done and take home all the tricks to make it at home. We'll start by preparing a very Argentine picada to accompany a drink, and in the meantime, we'll get the fire ready. I'll teach you how to light the coals, how to know when they're ready, and how to manage the heat throughout the cooking process. Then comes the meat. We'll talk about the different cuts, when and how to salt them, how to place them on the grill, when to turn the meat, and how to tell when it's done without having to cut into it. We'll also prepare some typical sauces and side dishes for the asado and, of course, we'll eat everything together. The experience includes wine and water to complement the meal. I want it to be a relaxed experience, like getting together for an asado with friends, but learning along the way everything that makes a good Argentine asador.
