Description
Most travelers arrive in Buenos Aires and find a city that throws them off balance. From the outside, it looks like a capital city on another continent, but as soon as you walk a couple of blocks, you feel a Latin energy that leaves you in no doubt about where you really are. How can this contrast be explained? What motivated those who transformed this place to give it this very distinctive and monumental form? On this ten-block tour, we'll go beyond what meets the eye to discover what lies behind this façade of grandeur. We're going to talk about the real history, the kind that seems like it was written for a TV series and is full of bold decisions, unexpected twists, and a constant obsession with always looking across the ocean.
We'll start at Plaza de Mayo to debunk the myths about our origins, from the true meaning of our name to the international connections that have shaped our identity from day one. We'll then continue along Avenida de Mayo to find out what those who designed these streets were really after and what message they were trying to send to the rest of the world through their façades. We'll take a fifteen-minute break for a much-needed rest before diving into the area's most enigmatic architecture, connecting great universal stories with the buildings you'll see right before your eyes. We'll finish in front of the Congress Palace, linking the symbolism of the place with today's reality so that you come away with a comprehensive view of Argentine identity. We will walk at a relaxed pace for three hours. This sightseeing tour isn't just about walking; it's about understanding the city with every step.
When you get back home, you won't just say that you were in Buenos Aires, you'll say that you really got to know it.
