Description
Discover a different way to meet the penguins of Tierra del Fuego: from a small boat and in small groups, very close to the colony on Martillo Island.
The excursion begins in Ushuaia, from where you will travel through the valleys of Tierra del Fuego on National Route 3 and Route J until you reach Puerto Almanza, a small fishing village facing the Beagle Channel. The journey is part of the experience: as you move away from Ushuaia, you'll discover a more remote and peaceful Tierra del Fuego.
From Puerto Almanza, you'll board a boat bound for Martillo Island (Penguin Island). The small size of the boat allows for close, intimate penguin sightings in their natural environment, something that larger boats cannot achieve. There is no disembarking on the island: the penguins are always observed from the water, respecting the environment and the wildlife.
Gentoo penguins are present in the area all year round. Magellanic penguins also arrive between October and March, so in those months you can see both species living together in the colony.
An experience that combines the landscapes of Tierra del Fuego, the essence of Puerto Almanza, and a close encounter with the penguins of Isla Martillo, in a small group and accompanied by a bilingual naturalist tour guide.
