Description
Day 1: Depart El Calafate by bus to Los Glaciares National Park, passing through Patagonian steppe and lenga forests. Explore panoramic walkways overlooking the Perito Moreno Glacier, including upper and lower viewing balconies. A bilingual guide covers the glacier’s history, geology, and behavior. There is free time to explore independently and photograph the glacier. An optional 1-hour boat trip may be available for a closer water view of the glacier’s north or south face. Park facilities include a restaurant and snack bar.
Day 2: Embark on a full-day boat tour on Lake Argentino. Navigate through the northern arm to the Upsala Channel for views of the Upsala Glacier. Continue into the Spegazzini Channel to see hanging glaciers such as Heim Sur and Peineta, and the Spegazzini Glacier, one of the tallest in the park. Pass floating icebergs and blocks before disembarking at Bahía de los Glaciares for a 300-meter forest trail walk to viewpoints. A guide explains the glaciers’ geology and landscape. The excursion departs from Punta Bandera port, 50 km from El Calafate.
