Description
We'll take you on a trail with the most stunning landscapes in Ushuaia to discover the magnificent Emerald Lagoon. On this trail of about 10 km (round trip), you'll get to experience some of the different environments that the Island of Tierra del Fuego has to offer, cross the native Fueguino forest, get to know the important peatlands and their beautiful reddish tones, and walk through the imposing Fueguino Andes.
Along the way, you'll also see beaver lodges and learn about the history of the beaver, an animal introduced to the island, and its current impact on the native ecosystem. You'll come across various birds typical of the environments you'll be passing through (cauquenes, woodpeckers, caranchos, condors, among others).
Finally, after a pleasant walk, you'll arrive at the incredible Emerald Lagoon (in winter, from June to September, the lagoon is frozen) where you can admire its striking bluish-green color, which is due to its glacial origin. We'll take a break here. We'll have time to take pictures, walk along the coast of the lagoon, and recharge with a delicious picnic on its shores before heading back to the city.
During winter, you'll need to wear warm clothes and waterproof shoes, as temperatures can drop below 0 degrees and you'll usually be walking on snow and ice.
