Retiro Free Walking Tour

Explore the luxurious Retiro neighbourhood in Buenos Aires on this free walking tour, featuring iconic landmarks, elegant palaces, and the historic San Martín Monument.

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the foot of the Monument of General San Martín in the historic square of the same name, a National Historic Site since 1942. This plaza is surrounded by important landmarks, including the Monument to the Malvinas War.

We will admire opulent palaces encircling the square: San Martín Palace, Paz Palace, and Palacio Haedo. You'll learn about the impact of the yellow fever epidemic in the late 19th century that influenced the development of this elegant neighbourhood.

Next, we'll visit Calle Florida, a historic pedestrian street known for high-end shopping. Here, you’ll have 15 minutes of free time at the Galerías Pacífico shopping centre, noted for its Beaux-Arts design and stunning interior.

The tour also includes a visit to the Kavanagh Building and the Torre Monumental clock tower, known as the Tower of the English, celebrating the centenary of the May Revolution. The tour concludes after a total of 2 hours outside the Torre Monumental clock tower.
