Description
Discover the rich history and stunning architecture of Buenos Aires on a guided tour of the Recoleta neighborhood. Visit landmarks such as Palacio Ortiz Basualdo, Plaza Francia, Iglesia del Pilar, Café La Biela, Recoleta Cemetery, the Faculty of Law, and Floralis Genérica. Immerse yourself in the elegance of Alvear Avenue and its historic palaces, capturing the essence of the Recoleta neighborhood.
Meet your guide at the meeting point, where you´ll be introduced to the tour. After a brief introduction, the group walks towards the famous Avenida 9 de Julio, where you take a public bus to the Recoleta neighborhood.
Visit the Ortiz Palace and the Pereda Palace, two examples of Argentina's famous Belle Époque, an architectural style that emulates French design. Stroll along the luxurious and historic Alvear Avenue. Here, discuss how large portions of land in Argentina were concentrated in the hands of a few families under an agro-export model, making Argentina one of the wealthiest countries at that time.
See the Duhau Palace, the mysterious Maguire Residence, and the Apostolic Nunciature, all mansions on the same block that lead to the iconic Plaza Francia. This plaza is the heart of Recoleta. It hosts the famous Recoleta Cemetery, the Pilar Church (where the Recoletos monks lived), the cultural center, and the traditional Café La Biela.
Visit the Faculty of Law, one of Buenos Aires' architectural gems and a symbol of Argentina’s public universities. Next to this building stands the famous Floralis Genérica, a giant metal monument in honor of all the flowers in the world.
