Description
The excursion starts early in the morning as we pick you up from your El Calafate hotel and head to Los Glaciares National Park (80 km away). Upon entering the park an hour later, we transfer to the 'Bajo las Sombras' pier for a 20-minute boat ride along Lago Argentino's Rico arm, providing breathtaking views of Perito Moreno Glacier.
After disembarking on the opposite shore, our bilingual mountain guides will brief us on the trekking experience and safety precautions at a small refuge. We'll then embark on a glacier hike, offering stunning views of the immense ice plateau. Throughout the 4-hour trek, we'll learn about local flora, fauna, glaciology, and the unique phenomena of Perito Moreno Glacier, which leads to its occasional ruptures.
During the trek, we'll pause for lunch on the ice, providing a chance to rest and admire blue lagoons and panoramic glacier viewpoints. Afterward, we'll return to dry land, descend to the port, and take a boat back. During this part of the tour, you'll have free time to explore walkways and balconies in front of the glacier, perfect for photography.
We'll board a bus back to El Calafate hotels in the afternoon.
