Description

Total distance: 25 km · Medium difficulty · Duration: 5 hours with stops 1. Rolling south: We depart from Alpataco along the coastal promenade and the quiet neighborhoods of the south. On the left, we pass CENPAT-CONICET and San Juan Bosco University, the science powerhouses of our city. At CENPAT, there is a mural that is worth stopping to see; on the right, the Atlantic Ocean marks our course. 2. Plateau trails: The pavement is behind us. We cycle among molles, jarillas, and coirones; if it rained the day before, the air smells like jarilla. 3. Paraná Beach & Folias shipwreck: First break. In front of us is the hull of the Folias fishing boat, which ran aground in 1980 just 300 m from the coast; at low tide, its structure emerges completely. Ideal for photos and a mate in front of the sea. 4. Punta Loma Sea Lion Colony: After another 5 km of gravel road, we arrive at the first protected area in Chubut. We leave our bikes and, from the viewpoint, we contemplate the permanent colony of South American sea lions: howls, splashes, and black-necked cormorants flying low. Interpretation talk + Patagonian snack. 5. Coastal return: We return via Playa Paraná (lower area) to capture the shipwreck in a different light and, with the slope in our favor, we cycle straight to Puerto Madryn. An ideal ending with a view of the gulf and a sense of mission accomplished. Are you up for cycling to see the most emblematic wildlife of Puerto Madryn? Reserve your spot today with Alpataco.
