Description

Your journey begins either with a pickup from your hotel in El Calafate (if the transfer option is selected) or by meeting directly at the 'Bajo de las Sombras' Port, located 75 km away inside Los Glaciares National Park. From the port, you will embark on a 20-minute navigation across Lake Rico, enjoying breathtaking views of the Perito Moreno's massive southern ice wall. After disembarking, certified bilingual mountain guides will welcome you. You'll begin with a one-hour hike along the lakeshore and through a forest path leading to the glacier's edge. Upon reaching the base dome, you'll be fitted with a helmet and crampons and receive a safety briefing. Then, step onto the ice for an approximately one-hour trek. Follow your guide through a landscape of deep blue crevasses, serene lagoons, and towering seracs, learning about the glacier's unique ecosystem. After the ice trek, celebrate with a special toast made with glacier ice before hiking to the stunning Las Cotorras Waterfall and a panoramic viewpoint. Please note: The itinerary order varies depending on your assigned disembarkation time (approximately 10:00 or 14:00). Finally, you'll navigate back to the port, concluding your adventure either there or with a drop-off at your hotel in El Calafate (if selected).

Important Information

• Only suitable for individuals aged 18 to 55. This is a moderate to high-intensity activity. It is not suitable for sedentary people or those with obesity. The total walking distance is 5.5 km.
• Due to the level of effort and difficulty involved, the activity is not permitted for: -Overweight individuals -Strictly prohibited for pregnant women -Individuals with conditions posing a risk of cardiac issues or functional/organic deterioration -Individuals with disabling conditions related to coordination and motor skills.
• Wear comfortable, warm clothing in layers, a waterproof jacket and pants, hiking boots (mandatory), a hat, gloves, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
• Bring a backpack with your own food and water for the day.
• Due to the tour's long duration and high physical demand, we strongly recommend not scheduling other activities for the same day. This includes arriving on a flight, booking other excursions, or planning transfers to another city.
