Description

Begin your day with an early pickup from your hotel in El Calafate around 7:00 AM, and get ready for an extraordinary journey through Argentina’s most stunning glacial landscapes. After a 47 km drive, you’ll arrive at Punta Bandera Port, where your boat sets sail at 9:00 AM across the pristine waters of Lake Argentino. Your navigation begins along the North Arm of the lake, crossing through Boca del Diablo, the narrowest section, before heading into the Upsala Channel. From a distance of about 20 km, you’ll witness the massive Upsala Glacier, one of the largest in South America, with its floating icebergs painting a surreal, icy seascape. Next, continue into the Spegazzini Channel, passing by several hanging glaciers such as Heim Sur, Peineta, and the striking Dry Glacier. The star of the show is the Spegazzini Glacier, rising dramatically to 135 meters, making it the tallest in the national park. Disembark at the Spegazzini Refuge, nestled within the Bay of Glaciers. From here, you’ll enjoy a short and easy 300-meter forested trail along the lake’s edge, stopping at scenic viewpoints overlooking the bay. At the refuge, you can choose to relax on the terrace, browse the shop, or indulge in an optional 3-course gourmet lunch with drinks, all while soaking in panoramic views of the glacier. For hiking enthusiasts, a 700-meter mountain trail offers a moderate trek through lenga forest and natural viewpoints, leading back to the boat landing site with spectacular glacier views at every turn. After a full day of awe-inspiring sights, you’ll board the boat and return to El Calafate, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel — with unforgettable memories of Patagonia’s icy giants in your heart.
