Description
The adventure begins when we take National Route Nº 3 towards the entrance of Ushuaia. The imposing Olivia and Cinco Hermanos mountains guide us along the way. Already in the valley of Tierra Mayor, we start a 5 km trekking (10 km round trip) towards Laguna Esmeralda. The valleys through which we will walk are the result of erosion caused by huge glaciers in the past, and today we can see the footprint of those glaciers reflected in the color of the water. After receiving instructions on the use of crampons and poles, we enter an ancient sub-Antarctic forest, once home to lumberjacks and now the territory of beavers. Finally, we arrive at the lagoon. At this time, we must go around it to get to our refuge, we cross it by trekking between rocks and streams. An experience that will surely remain engraved in our memory. The dome offers us a warm shelter and the fire comforts us after the hike. A delicious mountain stew, a pleasant chat and a moment of camaraderie complete this experience. We will not miss a comforting hot coffee while we contemplate the landscape before returning, renewed with the energy of the south.Includes
