Description

In the southern environment of the Fuegian summer, where the snow is no longer part of the landscape, spring breezes blow, and the sun covers the entire mountain, we find a magical proposal. Through a native forest, we will visit the Esmeralda Lagoon and we will finish in a warm mountain dome, where a hot lunch will turn into a unique gastronomic experience in front of a firewood salamander. Our adventure begins by following National Route 3 towards the entrance gates of the city of Ushuaia. Mount Olivia and Mount 5 hermanos clearly mark the course to follow. Once in the Tierra Mayor valley, we start a 5 km trekking (10 km in total) towards Laguna Esmeralda. The valleys we will cross are the result of the erosion caused by immense glaciers in the past, and today we can see the history of those glaciers reflected in the color of the water. After receiving instructions from our tour guide, we dive into a sub-Antarctic forest, former territory of lumberjacks and current habitat of beavers. Finally, we arrive at the lagoon. At this time, we must go around it to get to our refuge, we cross it by trekking among rocks and rocks. An experience that will surely remain engraved in our memory. The dome offers us shelter and the warmth of the fire revitalizes us after the hike. A tasty mountain stew, a friendly chat and a shared moment will complete the experience.
